Saifee expedition, October 1999

And the next morning Prem leapt all over the campsite with complete abandon

Obviously it was very cold and everybody was miserable. Prem can be seen noticeably glum in this shot. His mannerism
in this photograph always reminds me of a child who knows he has flunked the test but is too short to reach the mailbox to prevent the letters from falling into the parents' hands. The posture reeks of despair and sadness., very unlike Prem of the Pune office where he only reeked of sadness. The rock structure behind the pink tent is a makeshift temple which the
Nepalese (most of the porters and guides are from Nepal) construct at various campsites. Andy was very impressed with
this monument when he saw it on the first day and immediately showed his respect by putting his socks up on it for drying.
