A closer view of Gomukh glacier

Gomukh glacier is the origin of Bhagirathi river. In ancient times this glacier extended right upto Gangotri. Over the years
the glacier has receded over 18 kms to reach where it is right now! It has been measured that the glacier is receding at a rate of around 3 meters every year.
