Saifee expedition, October 1999

Tea, anyone?

We reached Gangotri in the afternoon where Mr. Ketan Rajput (one of the organisers of the expedition),  the guides and
the porters had already pitched the tents and as soon as we downloaded the ration onto the local food repository the
cook prepared hot tea for us (you'll hear this phrase many a times through the remaining slides, tea being one of the most successful drinks in India, though over the years the preparation has been modified to suit the local taste better). The camp was located  by a terrific, deep and noisy gorge and everybody still being energetic and peppy quickly perched
themselves on a convenient rock for a photograph. The mebers, from left to right are: The rock, Hema Kandala, Andy
Young, Sameet Mudbidri, Harshad Karve, S. Shashidhar (in a blue cap), Yatin Tayalia (in a skull), Shailendra Singh (the
cool dude in shades) and Prem Andrade.
